Daih-Yeou Chen, PhD
Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Chen earned his PhD from the University of California at Berkeley and has over 35 years experience in the Aerospace Gas Turbine Engine business from Honeywell International Inc. and United Technologies Corporation (UTC). He was named a Chief Engineer in 1998 and awarded a Technical Fellowship in 2002 at UTC.
Dr. Chen specializes in gas turbine engine combustion, emissions, noise, high altitude ignition/starting, and 3D CFD modeling. He designed and developed the industry 1st production effusion-cooled combustor (331-500) used on Boeing 777 and won the Honeywell 1991 Technical Achievement Award. Also an expert on emergency power systems, Dr. Chen has successfully designed and developed a patented Tri-Mode combustor to integrate APU, ECS and Emergency Power System into an Integrated Power Package (IPP) used on F-35. These accomplishments also won 1st place in the Honeywell 1998 Quest for Excellence competition (an Innovation Award and Vision Award). Dr. Chen was also a Chief Engineer with over 15 years experience in overall gas turbine engine design and development including system engineering for ETOPS-proven 43,000+ ft altitude ignition/starting, value engineering to integrate engineering/operation/procurement for supply chain management, and APU/Tailcone/Airplane integration for Chinese ARJ and Japanese MRJ programs.
